Manager's body found in Wattala

The body of the 40-year-old man who had allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Kelani River last Wednesday morning was found near Palliyawatta in Wattala yesterday, the police said.

The victim, identified as Gerard Shihan Nanayakkara, a manager of a private company, was reportedly seen standing near the the Kelani River with his vehicle parked near Kelanimulla Gangathilaka Vihara moments before he went missing.

Wellampitiya Police who initiated an inquiry have recorded statements from several eyewitnesses and the victim's wife. Some have reportedly seen the victim being washed away in the river. The body was found in a semi-decomposed state. The police are yet to establish whether it was an accident or suicide.
