Sex workers warned of acid attacks
Posters have come up in the Negombo town, warning sex workers of acid
attacks.
According to reports, the number of sex workers in the town has
increased of late, but the recent poster warnings have sent most of them
underground. The source of the posters was unknown.

Three children drown, mother rescued
A young mother in Thandikulam, Vavuniya has pushed her three
children, aged one-and-a-half to four years, in to a well and jumped in
herself last Friday.
The three children were drowned while the woman was rescued by the
neighbours and hospitalised. Vavuniya Police said the suspect mother is
a mental patient. - Selva
MoU on Sampur soon
Sri Lanka will sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the
construction of the coal power plant in Sampur with India's National
Thermal Power Company (NTPC) later this month, Power and Energy Ministry
sources said. |
