ON THE TRAIL OF VICTORY - Sunday Observer pays tribute to Security Forces on fourth anniversary of defeating terrorism

Northern doctor writes to Indian Premier:

Tamils praise the Army

     * Tamils could live anywhere in Sri Lanka in dignity
     * TNA claims of representing Tamils misleading

A reputed physician, Dr. P. Sivapaalan, in an open letter to Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh states that Tamils in post-2009 Sri Lanka ‘could live anywhere in the country without any fear unlike in the past and enjoy equal rights in terms of Sri Lanka’s constitution.’

Agricultural activities have recommenced in the North

“As a Tamil who had seen the sufferings of Tamils for nearly 60 years, I swear that we have a better dignified life under the present government.

The Tamils who suffered due to the war against terrorism are not blaming the Army, but in fact appreciate and praise the Army for having rescued them from the clutches of the LTTE and helped them in many ways,” he said. The full text of the open letter is as follows:

”Dear Prime Minister of India, Congratulations. It is great you didn’t bow down to the threat of the DMK. They pretend to be unaware of the peaceful situation in Sri Lanka.

There is no genocide. Tamils could live anywhere in Sri Lanka without any fear unlike in the past before the end of terrorism in May 2009.

We Tamils have equal rights in Sri Lanka according to the Constitution of the country.

From battle fields to agricultural fields

There are some administrative shortcomings like Tamils getting letters in the Sinhala language from Government offices due to the irresponsibility of officials and entries that had to be made in Sinhala in most of the Police stations causing grievance to Tamils.

I am sure the present good government will solve it soon. As a Tamil who had seen the sufferings of Tamils in my life for nearly 60 years, I can swear that we have a better dignified life under the present government.

Unfortunately, the Tamils, having lost confidence in the politicians, do not vote. The claim by the TNA, which polled less than 11 percent of the registered votes at the last general election, that it was the representative of the Tamils is misleading the international community and hoodwinking their own community. They have become traitors to their country, Sri Lanka.

The people who suffered due to terrorism are not blaming the Army. In fact, they appreciate and praise the Army for having rescued them from the clutches of the LTTE and helped them in many ways.

Only the ardent supporters of the LTTE in Sri Lanka and in foreign countries who had a good life at the expense of the suffering people find fault with the Army and the Sri Lankan Government.

We have seen live telecasts during the war against terrorism in Vanni. The way the Army was fighting in the tense situation wouldn’t have made them ‘do dirty work.’ We saw them carrying elderly and injured people and saw the sympathy shown towards the civilians.

The Channnel 4 horror film was the work of anti-Sri Lankans.

If the TNA and Tamil migrants of the transitional Thamil Eelam Government in the West, press for an international inquiry for war crimes for alleged atrocities during the last phase of the war, why did they want the Tamils to vote for the Commander of the Army Sarath Fonseka, at the Presidential Election?

Sarath had said that Sri Lanka is a Sinhala Buddhist country , Tamils are minorities, they can live here, but can’t ask any thing.

He wanted 100,000 new recruits to the Army to Colonise the North and the East of Sri Lanka to prevent the likes of Prabhakaran emerging again.

So, it exposes the TNA and Thamil Eelam transitional government migrants. Please stand for justice.

Remember the late PM of India who had to sacrifice his life. Be on the alert too people who support those who did brutal acts. I am telling this in the name of God.
