India cannot find political solution for SL Tamils - BJP
by S. Selvakumar
An Indian Opposition BJP delegation that visited Sri Lanka said India
could only provide basic facilities to the North and East residents but
it does not have a magic wand to find a political solution to the
national issue, the New Indian Express quoted the six member delegation
head Ravi Shankar Prasad. The Sri Lankan Tamils should interact with the
government to find a political solution to the ethnic issue, he said in
Jaffna last Wednesday.
They should not depend on India and the latter would not wish to
damage its century old friendly ties with Sri Lanka . The Indians met
politicians, civil society representatives and security forces personnel
during their visit to the North. Later the delegation met the Tamil
National Alliance parliamentarians at the Taj Samudra in Colombo. The
visiting Opposition MPs met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees
on Friday. |
