New changes in the field of education are rapidly taking place in the
country under the Mahinda Chinthanaya and President Mahinda Rajapaksa
has taken steps to introduce Information Technology in schools which is
a great blessing to the children, Eastern Province Road Development
Minister M.S. Udumalebbe said at the occasion of the inaugural function
relating to Information Technology, at the Addalaichenai Central College
(National School) held recently.
This meeting was presided over by the Principal of the School V.T.M.
Haniffa. Eastern Provincial Councilor A.L.M. Naseer, Akkaraipattu Zonal
Director of Education A.L.M. Cassim, Deputy Director of Education A.M.
Rahmathullah, Deputy Principals, Vice Principals, Teachers, Parents and
students were present at the function. At present there are thousands of
G.C.E (O/L) and G.C.E.(A/L) qualified youth who are un-employed and
their future is bleak. Of the G.C.E (A/L) qualified students only a few
hundred are selected to universities every year. Even after graduation
they are not guaranteed any employment.
There are several students in the G. C. E. (A/L) class who could not
gain admission to the university due to the shortage of two or three
marks on the aggregate.
Thousands of students have applied to the Ministers and MPs seeking
employment but they are also helpless and unable to find jobs for all.
This has been going on for some years. Therefore we should prepare the
students in such a way so as to meet the present challenges and provide
them with Technical Education and Information Technology the Minister
said. |
