Mega show telecast on Friday
 The highlights of the 35th Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of
the Year mega awards ceremony will be telecast over SLRC’s Channel Eye
on Friday from 10 p.m.
Apart from the awards presentation to the country’s outstanding
schoolboy cricketers, eight entertainment acts which added colour to the
show will also be telecast. Among them will be Dushyanth Weeraman, Iraj,
Shermain Wills, Chathuranga, Nadro drummers and the Channa/Upuli Dance
troupe.
Kasun Mendis of Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa was adjudged the
Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 while Milan
Abeysekera of Royal College, Colombo was voted the Observer-Mobitel Most
Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013.
Chairman of Selectors and former Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya,
the chief guest presented the glittering trophy to Cambrain Mendis. It
was the first public function for Jayasuriya after being appointed the
new Deputy Minister of Postal Services.
Incidentally, it was an emotional moment for the former St.
Servatious College, Matara cricketer who returned to the Observer
Schoolboy Cricketer stage after 25 years, since winning the Observer
Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Outstation title in 1988.
Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena were the guests of honour. |
