Facelift for Puttalam Urban Council area

Crash infrastructure development programs are underway in Puttalam
town to enhance the high comfort of the town dwellers.
The Chairman of Puttalam Urban Council A.K. Baiz at the recent
monthly meeting of the council said that the construction of a modern
vehicle park has already been commenced at Puttalam Poles Road under the
"Deyata Kirulla" program and the second one is to be started at Colombo
Road. For this purpose, the old public market is to be pulled down. Baiz
informed the Council that a modern public toilet is being constructed
close to the new Public Market complex by the Water Supply and Drainage
Board under Asian Development Bank aid and a similar one is to be
constructed at the town hall too.
He further said that, he has made a request to the District and
Divisional Secretaries to allocate the Council some state lands for the
proposed development works, specially for the proposed construction of
new Week-end fair complex.
According to Chairman Baiz, carpeting the internal town roads have
already commenced.
