The matches will be worked off at the picturesque and award winning Victoria Golf Course at Rajawella off Kandy, from October 24th to 27th.

This will be the first competition to be worked off directly by the new General Manager of Victoria Golf and Country Resort Neroy Marson who assumed duties last month.

So far over a 150 foreign golfers from countries like Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, India, Pakistan and many other countries have entered this championship. General Manager Neroy Marson said that the golf course is in fine fettle and the fairways are in excellent condition despite the minor drought experienced at present. The golfers are bound to enjoy playing on this course which is challenging and full of excitement.

Dhanushika Medagoda said that attractive prises await the winners and entries wise this is the biggest competition to be held this year.

She said that this is going to be a 36-boles Stableford Championship played over two rounds. The first batch will tee-off on the first and second day and the second batch on third and fourth days. So it is going to be four days of exciting golf from Thursday to Sunday next week.

Prizes will be awarded to winners of Net and Gross events for ladies and gentlemen golfers. In addition to this, there will prizes for the longest drive (ladies and men), nearest to the pin (ladies and men) and also other prizes all by courtest the Sri Lankan Airlines.

Victoria is one of the best golf courses in the sub-continent and it has won this award many times since this award was started 12 years ago by the Asian Golf Digest. It is also ranked among the 100 most beautiful golf courses in the world. The golf course and the facilities have been upgraded from time to time meeting to international standards. It has a chain of chalets within the complex and it has a pier for docking of sea planes who prefer air travel. It has everything, you name it they have it.

The construction of this course filled a void in the hill capital. Since it was opened to golfers in 1999, this golf course has made giant strides and is a dreamland to the golfer and a course in which eminent personalities have played and relished with joy the facilities it has.
