Lal Matharage

Lal Matharage was appointed Director and General Manager, Binota Hotel, Nuwara Eliya recently.

He began his hotel career in 1982 as a steward at Akasa Kade. His ambition was to become a General Manager some day.

At first it was only 'wishful thinking', but hard work and honesty helped him to climb the ladder of success.

From Akasa Kade, Lal joined Taj Samudra Hotel as a Captain for a short stint, and then joined Hotel Topaz, Kandy. His stars began to shine when he joined Red Sea Palace, Dubai as Restaurant Manager. On his return to Sri Lanka, Matharage joined Club Palm Bay, Marawila as a Restaurant Manager. Again he left the shores of Sri Lanka to join Dennis Island Hotel, Seychelles as a Restaurant Manager.

He later held the post of General Manger at Indra Regent Hotel, Colombo.
