Railings for Gurugoda Oya bridge

The Road Development Authority will construct railings on either side of the 500 ft. long bridge over the Gurugoda Oya behind the Anguruwella town on the Anguruwella - Warakapola road on a directive by Highways Minister Nirmala Kotalawala.

The minister also initiated the widening and carpeting of the Anguruwella-Warakapola road, a distance of 22 km. at a cost of Rs. 2100 million, when he visited the area on June, 27. The Gurugoda Oya bridge was constructed in 1948, without railings, putting thousands of school children, villagers and motorists into peril especially at night. Successive governments had failed to address this important matter. Minister Kothalawala also initiated the development work on the Ruwanwella- Veyangoda road.
