Principals to ensure provision of school texts

The Ministry of Education has instructed all school heads to complete student admissions before February 28, this year.

The Ministry has also informed all school heads to ensure that all students are provided with free school books.

Any supplementary needs could be channelled through the Zonal Directors of Education, the sources said.

Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, told the Sunday Observer that all teacher vacancies in remote schools countrywide would be filled to ensure equal opportunities for education for the future generation irrespective of communal differences.

All schools in the country would be equipped with a library with the support of volunteers, well-wishers, and philanthropists to mould future citizens, the minister said.
