Dilendra Ratnayake bags Bata Challenge Cup

The 78th Annual Mount Lavinia Tow-mile Sea Swim 2015, organised by the Sri Lanka Aquatic sports Union was held recently.

Around 1,000 participants representing the Armed forces, schools and swimming Clubs participated in the event. The girls Open Championship and the Under 14 Boys Championship was held on Saturday, February 28 and the Open Boys competition and the awards ceremony was held on March 1.

The Boys Under 14, Championship for the Dayananda Brothers Challenge Trophy was won by St. Joseph's College, Colombo 10. Dilendra Ratnayake of St. Joseph's was placed first in the junior category and won the Bata Challenge Cup, winning it for the second successive year. Brinstan Pieris also of St. Joseph's came second while Ravishka Peiris of Madampe Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda came third. St. Joseph's College Swimming team is coached by former national swimming coach, Ruwan Manawadu.

Deputy Minister of Policy Planning and Economic Affairs Dr. Harsha De Silva was the chief guest, while Director General, Sri Lanka Navy Rear Admiral Sisira Jayakody was the guest of honour.
