Michael Jayasekara tipped to be SLRFU President
Former St. Peter's, S.Thomas' and Havelock's centre, Michael
Jayasekara is tipped to be S.L.R.F.U president, according to reliable
sources.
In local club rugby, CR and FC have appointed 2nd row forward, Ishan
Noor to lead in the upcoming rugby season of 2015/16. They have also
obtained the services of some players from Army SC , Navy SC and
Havelock SC to don the red jersey in the upcoming season.
Former Trinity, Sri Lanka Under 20, rugby captain and CR and FC fly
half, Tharinda Ratwatte (son of former Trinity and Kandy SC captain,'
Ashan Ratwatte) who is excelling in New Zealand playing for the Auckland
Under 21 team,College Riffles'. He is expected to be in the island in
September, to play for CR and FC in the rugby season which begins in
November.
Former Wesley cricketer, rugby captain, Sri lanka Under 20 rugby vice
captain, CR and FC and Sri Lanka scrum half, Rahul de Silva left for
Palmerston North in New Zealand to train and gain experience for the
upcoming rugby season.
The training camp is the location for training and match preparation
venue for the All Blacks and other New Zealand rugby teams. Rahul will
have the unique opportunity of representing an elite squad of rugby
players to be coached by All Black great and one of the best scrum
half's to play the game, Justin Marshall from the end of this week.
Later on he will represent the Nelson and Tasman rugby clubs in New
Zealand along with his CR and FC mate full back Robbie Malnik.

Also Kandy Sc has appointed Sri Lanka skipper and fly half Fazil
Marija to lead them in this years local club rugby season 2015/16.
In the Sri Lanka schools rugby, unbeaten Royal college, Colombo beats
Isipathana College to bag the schools under 20 Singer rugby league title
as the undisputed kings under the leadership of centre Bhanuka Gamage.
Incidentally Royal college rugby team is coached by one of the best
schools coach Sanath Martis. Under Martis this is the fifth time a
school has won the prestiges schools rugby league title were four times
it had been as unbeaten league champions.
This year schools under 20 Milo rugby knock out championship will get
underway on Sunday 28th June 2015 at Royal Complex in Reid Avenue. This
time only six schools will participate and battle it out for the
championship. Six teams are Royal, Isipathana, Trinity, Science, St.
Peters and D. S. Senanayaka. St. Joseph College, St. Anthonys College
Kandy and Wesley College have pulled out of the tournament sighting
injury problems to their players.

Engelbrecht and Lions lock Andries Ferreira have all agreed to play in
