Lasantha Wijesuriya gets Life Membership at Kandy SC

Former St. Anthony's College rugby captain Lasantha Wijesuriya who is
the Rugby Chairman of the Kandy Sports Club for well over a decade, was
appointed as an "Honorary Life Member" for his services to the club
recently.
Forming a highly effective centre partnership with Jude Dimtri, he
led his school senior team in 1991and won the highest award of the
school in 1991 the "Eagle".
Straight from school he joined CH and FC on an invitation from Kishin
Butani and was selected to play for the country in the Asiad which was
held in South Korea.
From CH and FC Wijesuriya came back to his home town club Kandy and
was put on the correct track by Kandy Sports Club's godfather Malik
Samarawickrema.
In later years after his services to the club as a player he was
invited to join the club's administrative system in many assignments and
focused mainly on the development of rugby at club level. He was invited
to take over the Rugby Chairmanship of the club in 2002 and continues in
the post. Wijesuriya's primary task is to provide the team with the best
of facilities, co-ordination of their requirements and taking up player
matters in the General Committee.,
