The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has lifted the temporary suspension imposed on Transgulf Recruitment Agency in Kurunegala, the main office of the Kuwaiti agency allegedly involved in a brutal assault on a Sri Lankan housemaid. SLBFE Spokesman, Upul Deshapriya, said the lifting of the suspension was effective October 16.

Following video footage of the alleged assault on Kuwait-based Lankan housemaid Kanthi Thilakalatha, by staff at the Kuwaiti branch of the recruitment agency, Foreign Employment Minister Thalatha Athukorale instructed the SLBFE to temporarily suspend the licence of Transgulf Recruitment Agency.
