Podium finish for Shehara and Dinesh

The Rotherham Katukurunda Circuit Meet 2015 was the setting for a spectacular day of motor racing as its Mobil brand ambassadors Dinesh Jayawardana and Shehara Jayawardana, secured podium finishes in their respective events.

Shehara Jayawardana began the proceedings for the day, the SLS up to 1350, in pole position and found herself leading the pack from start to finish, eventually securing first position.

Starting fourth on the grid, Dinesh Jayawardana found himself trailing Sajaad Zuhair and Irfan Faud, the two front-runners during the first SLH 1600 race. His persistence paid off when Jayawardena managed to overcome both Zuhair and Faud. Jayawardena held on to the lead from this point, taking the chequered flag.

The second SLH 1600 race saw Shehara Jayawardana starting fifth on the grid. The participants of the second race had to contend with the elements as wet weather conditions made the race tricky but exciting. Shehara Jayawardana found herself trailing three drivers at the start, but a mistake made by the drivers gave her the opportunity to creep in. In a brilliant manoeuvre that paid huge dividends, Shehara overcome the distracted pack ahead and held her nerve to secure second place at the race. Meanwhile, Dilan Seneviratne was unable to compete in the races due to minor injuries picked up in an accident during testing on Saturday.
