Seetha Devi and Sangamitta girls are joint champs

Seetha Devi Girls College, Kandy and Sangamitta Girls College, Matale were adjudged joint champions at the 21st all island girls schools People's Bank Super Sevens Hockey Tournament organised by Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya and sponsored by People's Bank and worked off at the Bogambara Stadium, Kandy.

The finals could not be worked off due to heavy rain and poor light conditions. Thamali Dissanayake of Seetha Devi Balika Vidyalaya was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament for her fine cover defence play as she single handedly drove play from her own territory playing in the full back position.

Nethmini Kodituwakku was adjudged the Best Goal Keeper of the tournament for bringing off several brilliant saves which saved her side.

Among the pick of the Seetha Devi team were centre half Charuka Abeyratne, centre forward Tharaki Paranagama, goal keeper and skipper Sakunthala Illeperuma, right back Madhumali Karunatillake and centre forward Shenali Fernando.

The best players for Sangamittha Girls College who stood out in the entire tournament were skipper and centre forward Sandaruvini, Chocolate Jayaratne, Nawanjana Ekanayake, goal keeper Nethmini Kodituwakku, Vinodha Lakshani, Shashini Lakshani and Anjana Ekanayake.
