Austria-SL benefit from peace dividend - President
President Maitripala Sirisena in a statement to the media during his
visit to Austria said Sri Lanka and Austria would work closely to ensure
that both countries benefit from the changes taking place in Sri Lanka
and from the peace dividend."Sri Lanka and Austria have enjoyed friendly
and cordial diplomatic relations for over six decades and I have just
concluded a productive discussion with the Federal President and
discussed ways of making our partnerships stronger," the President
added.
"Our main focus is to strengthen bilateral trade and bilateral
high-level exchange has been put in place, thus helping to expand
cooperation in trade and economic relations, culture, education and
sports.
Austria has provided a number of scholarships to Sri Lankan students
in the hospitality field contributing to the development of Sri Lanka's
hospitality sector.
"I am happy that Austrian companies are active in my country,
implementing a number of projects. Among others, we discussed matters of
mutual interest such as joint investment, ventures and opportunities
including, increase market access. We would work closely to ensure that
both countries benefit from the changes that are taking place in Sri
Lanka and from the peace dividend . Trade and investment between our two
countries are also showing a significant and a positive sign," he said.
"We are keen that the momentum in our trade volume turnover will
increase in the coming years. Ceylon tea is popular in Austria and I
have learnt that Ayurveda has also become a significant attraction for
Austrain tourists", he added. |
