Carom titles for Cooray and Rosita

Chamil Cooray won three titles at the 48th National Carrom Championship conducted by the Carom Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) as he eventually pocketted the national title for the 12th time beating world champion Nishantha Fernando in the final at its headquarters in Kohuwala. He beat Fernando 2/1 (25/4, 22/25, 25/4) while Rosita Joseph beat Chalani Lakmali 2/0 (25/8, 25/13) to take the women's national title for the fifth time. Lalith Hewage won the veterans' singles title by beating Kaviranga Perera.

Over 350 players participated in this year's tournament.

Cooray also won the men's singles title and the men's doubles title with BrindleyWickramasinghe and the mixed doubles title with Arosha Wickremasinghe.(YK)
