Metering snag hits power generating plan The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) cannot go ahead with requesting the private sector to self generate power as there is no equipment for metering. According to a letter written by Chairman of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) to Chairman CEB, CCC members have been informed by officials of the CEB that the option of self generation of power cannot be implemented due to the lack of metering equipment. The letter requests clarifications in ascertaining the applicable safety and inter-connection standards and requirements for connection to the grid, the charges made by the CEB for testing these equipment and having a copy of the guide for grid inter-connection of embedded generation as specified by the CEB. The CEB Chairman has requested the CCC to appeal to its members who are capable of generating power from their own generators beyond the requirement of their establishments to consider the sale of such excess capacity to the national grid. |
