Lanka Star Awards for packaging industry The award for the most innovative packaging material developed with natural raw material available locally, was won by 'Eco Pellets', submitted by Gospel House Handicrafts Ltd. at the Lanka Star Awards conducted recently by the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging. It won another award in the transport category for innovation, appropriateness, environmental performance and overall performance. Eco Peellets, the pith of a plant dried naturally or artificially could be used as cushioning material for packaging of fragile items and is a substitute for expanded polystyrene foam pellets. The product also received a certificate for being recognised as an Asia Star Award winner along with 'Noritake Signature Gold 55 pc Box' submitted by JF and I Printers. The latter also won a merit award for environmentally friendly and biodegradable printed and laminated carton with a fairly high degree of graphic appeal. The other merit awards were won by Acme Printing and Packaging Ltd. for 'SMF Super Chinese Noddles 400g', AMJ Industries and Services Ltd. for 'Holiday Collection Ceylon Teas', HVA Foods (Pvt) Ltd. for 'Heladiv Flavoured Tea Bags', Middleway Ltd. for 'Lactogen I Carton' and Packwell Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. for 'Lion Larger Beer Carrier Bag'. In the consumer category, Lanka Star Awards were won by Euro-Scan Exports (Pvt) Ltd. for 'Connoisseur's Ceylon Collection', JF and I Printers for 'Giant Noah's Ark Wooden Toybox', Middleway Ltd. for 'Nescafe Carton', Packwell Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. for 'Lion Lager Beer pack', Universal Packaging (Pvt) Ltd. for 'Consumer Package', Varna Ltd. for 'Value Addition to our Traditional Food Products for Export Market by Environment Friendly Laminates', JF and I Printers for 'Northpole Convertible 3 piece Expandable Bags Box' and 'Northpole Great Basin Tent Box' and Packwell Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. for 'Helen Kamiski Carrier Bag', 'Nestle Nido Milk Promotion Bag' and 'Janet Bag'. |
