The Tamarind Tree - a place of peace and tranquillity

The Tamarind Tree, Katunayake a stones throw from the Bandaranaike International Airport, is a place of peace and tranquillity away from the busy life in the city.

An apartment

The hotel is situated in a lush coconut grove and has 20 air conditioned rooms and 30 air-conditioned, self-catering apartments. The uniqueness of the hotel is that it is ideally catering for both holiday and long stays for the experts.

The deluxe rooms are equipped with mini bar, TV, tea/coffee making facilities whilst the apartments are complete with a sitting area, a dining area and pantry. The hotel has many sports and entertainment facilities such as a swimming pool, jogging track, a fully equipped gum and a tennis court.

'The location of the Hotel, close to the Industrial zone in Katunayake, makes it easy for the foreign expats to patronize the hotel, said the Manager, The Tamarind Tree, Sanjay Basnayake. The clientele we get at the hotel is mainly in for quick business lunches and long stays. The hotel also handles day outings, mini conferences and luncheon meetings, but surprisingly in the recent past we have got many newly weds who have found The Tamarind Tree an ideal romantic place for their honeymoon, Basnayake said.

Many Sri Lankan families find the hotel a suitable place for holiday because of the large garden, where not only the children but elders too can have fun. The hotel also ensures maximum privacy and a lot of serenity.

The Tamarind Tree is a member of the Jetwing Family of Hotels which manages fourteen hotels from the West Coast to the South Coast of Sri Lanka.
