Painting and aerobic exhibition Four of Sri Lanka's outstanding artists will display their work at an exhibition and sale at the Lionel Wendt Memorial Art Centre on Saturday February 23 and Sunday February 24. The exhibition presented by the Royal Commonwealth Society features the paintings of Francis Perera, Kumara Ratnayake, Rajakaruna B. Ananda and Senarath Ranasinghe, are of oil on canvas, water colours and arboric art. Francis Perera the reputed artist and sculptor who hails from Kalagedihena has won many prizes for his paintings and sculptures and has held one man exhibitions in Sri Lanka, Maldives, India and the Philippines. His paintings adorn international centres. Kumara Ratnayake has opened his own art gallery at Pasyala and his paintings are on varied themes combined with a blend of rich and vivid colours. A Presidential Award winner he has won awards from the George Keyt Foundation and the Ceylon Society of Arts. An aerobic artist Rajakaruna B. Ananda is acclaimed for the beauty and intricacies of his designs created at his art shop in Habarana. Senarath Ranasinghe who hails from Matale is highly commended for his black and white scenery in the Rotring technique. This exhibition is open to the public and entrance is free. All proceeds from the sale of paintings are for the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind, Ratmalana. |
