Phase I of its logistics upgrading programme will commence immediately, a Prima news release said. Phase I will consist of the doubling of wheat silo capacity from 100,000 metric tonnes to 200,000 mt. the upgrading of flourmill equipment, laboratory and installation of a new weighbridge, and improving domestic flour transportation facilities. In Phase II, the company will invest further in milling capacity, new operating units, the expansion of the existing jetty and the building of a new wharf and other facilities. PCL's forward planning anticipates the increasing needs of the growing population, and it is committed to increase more varieties of quality wheat flour at the most competitive prices. The increased milling capacity will also pave the way for entry into export markets, in line with the Sri Lankan Government's economic emphasis on export promotion. |
