Political propaganda not permitted in public transport Posters, stickers and photographs of candidates contesting the Local Elections on March 20 will not be allowed to be displayed in state owned public transport. The Sri Lanka Transport Board Chairman, U. L. M. Farook has informed political parties contesting the Local Election that he would not allow public transport to display any propaganda of candidates contesting this election. He has further stated that the Election Commissioner had blamed the CTB for violating the Election Law at the December 5 General Election and this time they would strictly follow instructions issued by the Election Commissioner. This will apply to all buses either directly coming under the CTB or cluster bus companies. He has requested respective political parties to avoid using buses for the purpose of display of information or pictures, posters or stickers pasting either inside or outside of the CTB vehicles. |
