Maldivian delegation boosts bilateral trade relations

A 25-member trade delegation from Maldives, led by Vice President of the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohamed Latheef arrived in Sri Lanka recently. The delegation, organised by the Export Development Board, met members of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL).

The mission's objectives were to identify the areas of cooperation which will be beneficial to both countries, promoting bilateral trade including exports, imports, joint ventures, services and cooperation at government and private level.

During the stay, the delegation met with several leading organisations and clinched several deals.

FCCISL organised this meeting to enable the delegation to meet leading entrepreneurs of the country. During this meeting, a wide range of issues were discussed to strengthen bilateral trade through the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two Chambers.

Keen interest was shown by the local participants to become members of the Sri Lanka - Maldives Business Council to enhance bilateral trade between the two countries. Membership of the business council is now open for business organisations and individuals interested in business opportunities with Maldives.
