New corporate identity for eRunway Virtusa Corporation, previously known as eRunway, unveiled its new corporate identity last week in Massachusetts,??? USA through a launch ceremony telecast globally across its offices in the US, India and Sri Lanka. "We are changing our name to reflect an important transition in the company's history," said Kris Canekeratne, the company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Virtusa is a provider of global technology innovation services. Headquartered in the US, Virtusa employs technology talent in the US, India and Sri Lanka. It develops and deploys mission critical enterprise products and solutions for its Fortune 1000 customers and for leading software product developers. Virtusa was founded in 1996 by Canekeratne. The company has now gone beyond being a product development services provider to being a partner in creating competitive advantages for its clients. The company has also said that it is gearing up to meet a large amount of new project work it has amassed over the last three months despite negative market conditions prevailing in the US. Tushara Canekeratne, the company's co-founder and Executive Vice President - Technical Operations, recently visited the Colombo and Hyderabad offices to provide Virtusa (eRunway) technology professionals with an insight on plans to meet the growth taking place in the company. Although most services companies are experiencing a decline in growth, Virtusa has grown steadily. The company won 10 new customers last quarter while many of its existing blue chip customers have expanded their relationships. While many other services companies are laying off staff, eRunway recently hired over 100 experienced technology professionals worldwide, mostly in Hyderabad and Colombo. She said: "All our hiring is to a global bar that represents engineering excellence. We receive on average over 3000 applications a quarter. We apply a stringent screening process and select less than five per cent of all applicants. It is not just about having technical skills anymore it is about having a blend of skills that combine to stretch the contours of technology for our customers." |
