Delayed Engineering results out

by Don Asoka Wijewardena

The results of the examination of the Faculty of Engineering held in January 2002 were released on April 24th and the results of the examination held in November 2001 will be released in June, sources at the Peradeniya University told the Sunday Observer.

The Dean of Faculty of Engineering University of Peradeniya, Prof. S.D. Pathirana, told the Sunday Observer that due to unavoidable circumstances the university had to delay the releasing of results of two examinations. He also said that results of the examination held in January 2002 were released on April 24th to facilitate the students who would be required to sit for the repeat examination in May 2002." 50 percent of students have got through the exam and I will try my best to release the results next month of the examination held in November 2002," said Prof Pathirana.

When asked about the cause of delay in releasing the results, Prof. Pathirana said that late submission of marks by examiners and a new decision of the faculty to scrutinise all the marked answer papers had caused the delay. He ensured that he would make necessary arrangements to release forthcoming examination results without delay in future.

Parents and undergraduates were worried about the long delay in the release of results by the Peradeniya University, Faculty of Engineering.
