Kidney Patients Welfare Association urgently in need of funds

The Kidney Patients Welfare Society is in urgent need of public funds for facilities for kidney patients for the establishment of a Transit Home in close proximity of the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital and a Dialysis Unit at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila.

At a media briefing held recently in Colombo Dr. Kamini Wanigasuriya said better facilities were urgently needed since 50 to 100 in a million patients suffer from chronic renal failure. Due to lack of proper and regular dialysis treatment most of them face death.

Since each machine costs Rs. 1.6 million the co-operation of the public is required as more dialysis machines were needed.

Donations may be sent to the Secretary, Kidney Patients Welfare Society, No. 32/5, Terrence Avenue, Mount Lavinia or to A/C No 654889001 of the Seylan Bank, Mt. Lavinia.
