For the first time in Sri Lanka the Regional Conference of the Goethe Institutes Inter Nationes in South East Asia will be held from 29 April 2002 - 03 May 2002 at Hotel Galadari, Colombo to promote a wide knowledge abroad of the German Language and to foster cultural co-operation with the respective local counterparts.

The Goethe Institutes Inter Nationes plays an important role in providing access to German language teaching and cultural exchange all over the world. It fosters mutual understanding through an awareness and appreciation of German thought in close cooperation with institutions and individuals in the host country.

The conference will be held under the theme of Cultural Politics issues and challenges and will be attended by all heads of the Institutes of the region.
