ICC to check security at 2003 World Cup venues LONDON, April 27 (Reuters) - South African and Kenyan venues hosting the 2003 World Cup are to undergo a security inspection over the next three weeks. Bob Smalley and Bruce Ewan from the International Cricket Council's Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) fly to South Africa this weekend where they will link up with members of the World Cup security directorate for the audit. "These inspections are an important part of the ACU's build up to next year's World Cup," Paul Condon, director of the ACU, said in a statement. "The visits will identify what is needed for each ground to meet minimum security standards for the tournament. "By working closely with the security directorate we will be able to cover both specific anti-corruption measures as well as the physical ground security requirements for each stadium," he said. |
