D. M. S. Dissanayake and Dilrukshi Sumanaweera take top honours at Tea Factory Cyclocross

D. M. S. Dissanayake and Dilrukshi Sumanaweera took major honours when they won the men's and women's open events at the Tea Factory Cyclocross 2002 at Kandapola, Nuwara Eliya yesterday.

Dissanayake completed a distance of 12.4 km on difficult terrain and was awarded a bike for his effort and Dilrukshi Sumanaweera, the daughter of A. M. Sumanaweera, took the award for the women's open event.

A. M. Sumanaweera who won the ANCL Tour de Lanka in 1984, 85, 86 won the Veteran's event over 50 years and Kingsley Rupasinghe of ANCL won the over 40-50 years event.

The Cyclocross 2002 was organised by the Tea Factory Hotel Kandapola, conducted by the National Mounting Biking Association and co-sponsored by ANCL Group of Newspapers, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation.
