Criteria of selection for NDT The selection of students to the National Diploma in Technology program (NDT) at the University of Moratuwa continues to be based on GCE 'A' Level performances together with a test on general aptitude for Technology, the University of Moratuwa says in a communique issued on Thursday. The communique further said: "Selection to NDT course is done by the Institute of Technology University of Moratuwa (ITUM) in consultation with the university and with the concurrence of the UGC. Students who have passed three subjects in one sitting in the last three examinations (1999 or 2000 or 2001) are eligible to apply for selection. Students were selected through a test conducted by the university till 1999. While the Board of Studies was deliberating on the type of aptitude test to be conducted, the Senate as a temporary measure agreed for the selection to be on the GCE 'A" Level aggregate or average marks only for the years 2000/2001. Furthermore, as GCE 'A' Level (2001) students do not have aggregate marks, the criteria adopted in 2000 and 2001 is not possible in 2002. "The new selection criteria based on the GCE 'A' Level performance and on a test on general aptitude for technology has been proposed by a committee appointed by the Board of Studies of ITUM. The test will not test knowledge on specific technological subjects. |
