Swiss - win on faster run rate

by Kandy Sports correspondent

Swiss Combine Cricket Club from Switzerland scored their second win of their seven match tour of Sri Lanka when they beat Kandy Cricket Club on a faster run rate in a limited over cricket match played at the Asgiriya Stadium.

Feature of the match was a exhilarating knock of 82 with 4 sixes and 4 fours by veteran Julian Arnolda who also captured 4 for 47 with his off spinners but his effort was not enough to bring his side victory. After the first six wickets had fallen for 41, he had an useful ally in Trinity's under 13 cricket captain 12 year old Sachitch Pathirana and the pair put on 95 for the seventh wicket of which Pathirana's contribution was 13.

For the winners, Ravi Demotara 52 with 4 fours and 3 sizzling sixes and Dugal Jansz 20 with 2 fours and a six batted briskly.

Swiss Combine CC: 169 all out in 26.3 overs (Mohan Raj 30, Udara Elapatha 20, Ranjith Katukurunda 17, Ravi Demotara 52, Dugal Jansz 20, Sachith Pathirana 2 for 35, Julian Arnolda 4 for 47, Suranga Daluwatte 2 for 19).

Kandy CC: 161 for 9 wickets in 35 overs (Sachith Pathirana 13, Julian Arnolda 82, G. Abeyratne 20, Udara Elapatha 2 for 18, Sanjeewan Thevar 2 for 21).
