Malaysian Veterans win 3-1

by Kandy sports correspondent - Jiffrey Abdeen

Malaysian Veterans beat Gampola Veterans 3-1 in a veterans soccer match played at the Weeguluwatte grounds, Gampola before a large crowd. At the breather the Malaysians led 1 - 0.

Before the commencement of the match both teams were introduced to the chief guest DIG Central Range East, Nimal Mediwake and the guests of honour Sunil Senaweera, Edward Weerasinghe and S. B. Tiskumara - Manager, Lake House Branch, Kandy.

The visitors played fast and furious soccer and appeared to be a fitter side and the local team could not counter their moves and during the closing stages appeared to be running out of steam but managed to stop their opponents from running up a bigger score.

This match was sponsored by Upcountry Man Power Agency Company.
