Soul and r&b
Ruveen's first choice

A regular DJ at the popular 'Black Out' (After Dark) at the Swiss Residence in Kandy Town, DJ Ruveen is most happy when he sees the crowd of dancers enjoying his grooves. A product of St. Peter's College, Colombo he had ideas of becoming a doctor, relishes fast food and burghers, holds a 9 to 5 job and finds pleasure in accordion music - so far removed from DJ techno!!

Name: DJ Ruveen (Ruveen Perera)
Birthday: February 20
Status: Married
Fav. colour: Blue followed by black

Trendy outfits: I like them. I'm a jeans and cargo pants guy. When DJing its flashy colours and jackets.

Hairdos: Spiky and short with non permanent tints especially in burgundy

Fav. music: Soul, r&b hip-hop, swing - the new jack swing

Fav. song of the 80s and 90s: From the 80s - Like A Prayer by Madonna. She is versatile. From the 90s - Twisted by Keith Sweat.

Pet hates: I hate monotonous work and people who constantly criticise others and laugh at them behind their backs.

How much of a party guy are you: I like partying in the night with my friends when I'm not DJing. I go to other clubs to listen and dance to the music. I hang out mostly at Cascades.

Are you the first to hit the dance floor: No, not the first. I listen to the music and if I like it I'll go tripping.

When you are DJing how do you reject advances from girls: Girls do make advances. But I try to make it clear that there's no opportunities for advances only playing their requests.

Qualities you like in a girl: She should be kind hearted, sensitive and understanding. Be figure and fashion conscious.

Do you check yourself constantly in the mirror: Yes! When I take a break during Djing. I preen myself for the girls!

Are you superstitious: Yes. My grandfather was superstitious. I used to live with him until I got married. Black cats don't bother me but I don't commit myself to any time frame to others.

Do you believe in love at first sight: Yes: I met my wife at tuition classes. She was also an A Level student. After our exams we started working and we got married last year.

Who do you admire in life: My mother. She's always with a smile whatever, whenever. I admire her for having brought me up to what I am.

Do you know to cook: To a certain extent. I know how to make a meal out of cooking rice - it turns out pulpy!

What would you do if you ruled the world: I'll bring to justice those people who throw a country into turmoil and make sure there's peace for every one. Also I'll direct the music industry to its peak.

If you could change anything about yourself what would it be: I would like to change my thoughts. I am a deep thinker. I take life too seriously, I would like to change my thinking pattern and be cool.
