Army beat CH 33/20

Army defeated CH&FC by 33 points (two goals, two tries and three penalties) to 20 (two goals, two penalties) in their Caltex division one league championship rugger encounter at Galle Face yesterday. The winners led 19-3 at the breather.

Army opened scoring with a goal when winger Nalin Vijitha touched down and T. A. Silva gave them the extra points. The soldiers dominated the first half, scoring three tries which two were goalled. Winger Sithara Fernando scored the second try and Herathge Karunaratne's try was converted by T. A. Silva.

CH&FC fared better in the second half, planting two tries through centre Lasantha Ediriweera and Gayan Gunathileka which Dinuk Wijeratne and Nalin Dissanayake gave them the extra points. Army's T. A. Silva put over three penalties and Sanjeeva Pullendra scored the final try for the soldiers which went unconverted. D. Nimal refereed.
