Over 3000 addresses in e-mail directory

by ANTON NONIS

E-mail Directory Lanka (EDL) has put out its annual electronic directory for the third consecutive year, with over 3000 e-mail addresses collected from various parts of the country.

The only e-mail directory in Sri Lanka, it incorporates about 500 different categories. According to EDL Director, Nilusha Karunaratne, the directory has also allocated space for about 600 advertisers in this latest issue. The company hopes to increase the advertiser base to 2000 in the near future.

"Our aim is to give the maximum information on various topics to clients at their doorstep," Karunaratne said.

The company plans to publish its e-mail directory on the Internet. The management feels this will also give the company the opportunity of advertising various hotels, state offices, universities, banks and embassies in the country.

The company will go further in its efforts of expanding the directory by accommodating foreign e-mail addresses along with the company names. For a start, it will deal with India, Malaysia and America.

Later, the company will go out for more countries. The countries would be selected by the management, depending on their importance to the Sri Lankan business world.
