Sri Lanka's leading automobile company DIMO launched the latest addition to their Mercedes-Benz range, the new E - Class, at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre, Colombo, recently. The car, sporting the distinctive styling and engineering ingenuity of
its lineage, made its entrance in a spectacular ceremony that, apart from
a guest list that read like the who's who of politics, business and
entertainment, included an amazing range of entertainment. Most notable
were musical rendition by a variety of motor accessories and a stunning
display of acrobatic stunts by a group of daring performers. The
highlights of the launch was, however the presence of 'Karl Benz' conjured
up from the mists of the past, to usher in the world's first automobile,
the Benz Patent working model in Sri Lanka.
Epitomising the design excellence of its marque, the E-Class Benz stands apart with chrome highlights on its door handles and side panelling, stylish alloy wheels and elegant front radiator grills with four high sheen louvers. But it is the technical innovations that truly sets the car part. The include an Electro hydraulic braking system, which gives it better precision and faster reaction time, aero windscreen wipers with built in rain sensors, anti-lock breaking systems, automatic climate control, cruise control with 'speedtronic' variable speed limiter, 'elcode' infrared locking system, automatic headlights, electronic stability programme, and a multi-functional steering wheel. |
