New UNICEF representative Mr. Edward Chaiban has assumed duties as the new UNICEF representative for Sri Lanka and the Maldives last week. Prior to his appointment as UNICEF representatives, he has been serving as the Regional Emergency Advisor in UNICEF's Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office. Mr. Chaiban had worked as the Senior Project Officer and Deputy Chief of Operations in the UNICEF Operation Lifeline Sudan, based in Nairobi, Kenya. He has also worked with Non-Governmental Organisations in Sudan, Kenya, Haiti and Morocco. Mr. Chaiban who is from the United States succeeds Mr. Colin Glennie who has taken up appointment as the UN Resident Co-ordinator to Poland recently. |
