CR thrash Navy 45/6 to enter semis CR & FC entered the semi-finals of the Caltex Clifford Cup Knock-out Rugby Championship defeating Navy by 45 points (2 goals, 5 tries, 2 penalties) to 6 (1 drop goal, 1 penalty) after leading 16-6 at half time at Longden Place yesterday. CR will now meet the winners of the Army vs Havelocks game in one 'semi' on Saturday. Bohoran (2), Gavin Jayasekera (1), Nishantha Kumara (1), Sumedha Jayasinghe (1), Nishantha Ekanayake (1) and skipper Asanga Rodrigo (1) scored the tries for CR with two tries being converted one by Charith Kodagoda and another by replacement fly half Roshan Pieris. Navy's fly half Sharm Pradeep dropped the goal as well as putting over the solitary penalty. Nizam Jamaldeen refereed. Today, two other quarter-final games are down to be worked off. They are Army vs Havelocks at Longden Place and Police vs CR & FC at Havelock Park. (L.G.) |
