NIIT in Trincomalee

NIIT, a global leader in IT training, in cooperation with MMBL Cyber Skills (Pvt.) Ltd. has launched an IT education and training centre in Trincomalee.

IT scholarships were given to several schools on the occasion.

The new IT training centre will use the e-Technology curriculum from NIIT to educate and train students in Trincomalee.

Sunimal Weerasooriya, Managing Director of MMBL CyberSkills said: "The Trincomalee Centre is the seventh NIIT centre to be set up in Sri Lanka to offer the new e-Technology curriculum. This centre will provide the opportunity for students in Trincomalee to obtain world class IT education without coming to Colombo." The courses are ISO 9001 certified.

Through its ongoing computer education and software development activities in over 37 countries including USA, Europe, Asia Pacific, Greater China, Japan and India, NIIT has already created a computer training and software development expertise in the international arena.

MMBL CyberSkills is a joint venture company between Mercantile Merchant Bank Ltd. and the Maharaja Organisation Ltd. MMBL CyberSkills is the licensee of NIIT in Sri Lanka and has got Board of Investment approval to set up IT education centres throughout the island. The company has already set up seven centres and plans to further expand its network in the near future.

NIIT pioneered IT training in India in 1981 and has evolved from an education company to an IT solutions corporation with equally balanced software and education revenues. NIIT gets more than half its revenue from its international operations.

NIIT's training brands are Futurz, a series of programs on the latest e-Commerce and Internet technologies leading to GNIIT title CATS (Curriculum for Advanced Technologies Studies) and SWIFT (Short Work Programs in Information Technology).

Its e-Learning portal, NetVarsity, provides the learner with an integrated delivery mechanism that combines physical mentoring with online support.

NIIT is said to be the first and only Asian education and training organisation to feature among the IDC top 15 global IT training market leaders. The company has been conferred the 'Best Training Company Award' by Microsoft 2001'. in a recent survey by Dataquest, India's leading computer industry magazine, NIIT was voted as the first choice of recruiters.
