Lekha upgrades its image

The Lekha School of Commerce, a household name since the 1950s was one of the very few Training Institutions of that era. The school proudly produced more than 50,000 qualified secretaries who are now with leading corporate companies in Sri Lanka.

Lekha, a family-owned training business that started operations at the same facility in 1956 now stands taller with two additional floors to cater to a greater number of students who will benefit from the new methodologies the company plans to introduce.

Lekha has taken further steps to offer modernised techniques in the Secretarial studies combined with IT and Management courses in its refurbished modern building complex in the heart of Nugegoda.

Through its affiliation to Spectrum Institute of Science and Technology, the task of delivering cutting-edge technologies from IT to Management becomes available and the best of all courses will be made available to the students of the immediate suburbs.

A variety of courses will be on offer targeting school leavers as well as professionals.Ranjith Wijewardena, Chairman of Wijaya Group of Companies re-launched Lekha Academy on Thursday the 19th of August 2004 at the auspicious time of 1.40 pm. Mr. Wijewardene is a renowned business personality in Sri Lanka.

Managing Director of Lekha Nisitha Samarasekera says: "We are indeed proud to re-launch the company with all modern facilities courses and are looking forward to serving the community for another 50 successful years. With years of teaching and management experience combined with a professionally qualified and trained staff, we are sure that the academy will be able to produce competent and confident young persons who can handle the demands of today's corporate world. Our affiliation to Spectrum compliments this goal and would make it easy to deliver the best to the students of the area.

The Spectrum Institute of Science and Technology, a BOI-approved training venture, is a leading training company that introduced many modern technology courses in Sri Lanka and produced a large number of students with internationally recognised certifications. Spectrum, one of the most successful training companies in the field of Microsoft Systems Engineering, Cisco Certified Network Engineers, also has a large number of students in their Biotechnology Degree Programmes offered in Sri Lanka through the Prestigious Chandrashekar Azard University of Agriculture and Technology of Kanpur, India.

Chairman of Spectrum, Jayanthan Kulasingham said that the opportunity to tie up with Lekha is an exciting one for them to carry on demonstrating their commitment to value added human capital development through IT & English language education.

Aligning with a company like Lekha that has more than half a century of proud history on a responsibility sharing arrangement rather than the typical Franchise-based design that usually increases the capital expenditure on the partner, will make it easy for Spectrum to deliver courses on an economical fee structure.
