SLAIP award ceremony The Sri Lanka Association of Investments Professionals (SLAIP) held its Annual CFA charter-award ceremony at the Taj Samudra Hotel, recently Dr. Sarath Amunugama, was the Chief Guest. The six candidates who successfully completed the examination are Arjuna Watawala (Ernst & Young), Eraj Weerasinghe (Kuwait), Ms. Keren Stephen, (iOM Lanka) Malik Zahir, (Amba Research), Ms. Shalini Kurukulasuriya (Amba Research), and Ms. Tharanga Kariyawasam (Australia). Two of the six candidates, Malik Zahir and Ms. Keren Stephen, received their CFA charters at the ceremony. This year, nine Members of the CFA Sri Lanka Chapter received special recognition awards for their contribution towards both the development of the local financial sector and the popularising of the CFA qualification in Sri Lanka. The recipients of this special recognition were Ajantha Madurapperuma, CFA Alastair Corera, CFA Amal Sanderatne, CFA, Dinesh Warusavitharana, CFA, Malinga Arsakularatne, CFA, Murtaza Jafferjee, CFA, Naomal Goonewardene, CFA, Nirosh de Silva, CFA, and Sanjay Kulatunge, CFA. SLAIP also announced that its members have voted in favour of a resolution to change the association's name to CFA Sri Lanka. This move reflects the recent name change of the society's parent organization to CFA Institute (formerly known as the Association for Investment Management and Research). |
