ADB pledges US $ 200m by Jayantha Sri Nissanka Asian Development Bank President Tadao Chino after visiting tsunami
devastated areas in Sri Lanka yesterday pledged US $ 200 million to assist
the reconstruction effort of the Government.
The government has decided to provide a relief package including food
and other essential items amounting to Rs. 375 per week on the ration for
each person displaced as a result of the tsunami disaster commencing from
next week, said a press release issued by the Commissioner General of
Essential Services. Reconstruction plans Monday President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga will submit the
government's detailed reconstruction plans at the National Committee for
