Say What! TSUNAMI 9.0. I guess we were all hoping to spend our Christmas holidays in peace. But we don't always get what we want, do we?I am positive that nobody wanted an earthquake this Christmas from Santa. As soon as I heard about the massive earthquake I tried to call my friends and see if they were safe but the phone lines were busy and I was very worried. Somehow I called all of them and I was glad to know that they were all safe. But some people weren't so fortunate. Thousands of people are dead, hundreds missing and thousands more injured and at the risk of catching various diseases. One of my friends went on trip on Christmas Eve to a location which is normally enriched with wild life but sadly he had noticed on the same day that there were fewer birds and animals roaming around. Maybe they felt what was coming and escaped to a safe land. I went to the church in my area a couple of days ago and I saw many people with haunted looks. Some were crying like new born infants and some were expressionless like zombies. Maybe life isn't fair, but who are we to complain? Nature just played a cruel and inhuman trick on us and we might have the most advanced ammunition built to destroy a whole nation but we are truly defenceless against Mother Nature's anger. It's true that we Sri Lankans haven't had a massive earthquake for nearly 400 years. So, who would've thought that we could be targeted. But it doesn't matter now, because what's done is done and we can't dwell in the past and point fingers at others who are to blame. It would be very difficult to recover from all the damages caused by furious tidal waves but, if we could help each other, maybe we would be able survive this crisis after all. One thing I have learnt from all of this is to always enjoy life to the maximum and never take anything for granted. I'm not trying to be unpleasant but you could be breathing today and dead by tomorrow! It doesn't mean that you have to reserve a coffin for yourself in order to prepare for your sudden death! No! but be alert and do what YOU want to do without regrets. Then you would at least have peace of mind rather than facing a big list of 'IF ONLY's.... Think about it..... Dillz.... (Bad Ant) |
