OBSERVER-BATA cricket contests again There is good news for cricket fans - especially school cricket fans - the 27th OBSERVER-BATA Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest and other allied contests will be held again this year. Last year, the contests had to be somewhat cut down owing to some problems encountered by sponsors Bata Shoe Company Limited but, they will be held in full force this year again like in the years gone by. But before the end of the season contests where the umpires of Sri Lanka Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association, Central Province Cricket Umpires Association, Southern Province Cricket Umpires Association pick the winners, Observer and Bata will, as usual, have the Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year - All-Island and Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year-Outstation Contests to keep the interest alive during the inter-school cricket season. As cricket is a sport where spectators play an important role, there will be voting coupons that will be published in the Sunday Observer as well as in the Daily News as in the past. First coupons will appear in the Sunday Observer of January 23. So make sure of your copy of the Sunday Observer and participate in the competitions and win prizes. There will be two prizes each week in both contests - that's Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year All-Island and Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer - Outstation. |
