President, JVP discuss education A discussion was held on Friday at the President's House, with senior members of the JVP, Ministry of Education officials and the University Grants Commission on issues connected to education. The meeting was chaired by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. The issues discussed were concerning private degree awarding institutes, North East education, curricular changes etc. Several issues raised concerning the school education sector were clarified. The President said that further discussions will be held on the university related issues in the coming months, according to Dr. Tara De Mel, Secretary, Ministry of Education. |
