Indian tsunami experts here by M. P. Muttiah Two Indian tsunami experts will visit Sri Lanka from March 6 to 9, to share their expertise in the reconstruction and rehabilitation with Sri Lankan officials. Ms. Santha Sheela Nair, the Principal Secretary to the Tamil Nadu government and Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, District Collector of Nagapattinam who have extensive experience in disaster management will be here on an invitation from the Task Force for Rebuilding the Nation (TAFREN). They will also visit Batticaloa, Ampara and Matara districts and will have discussions with Sri Lankan officials on their experience. Ms. Nair was made chief of overall relief coordination at Nagapattinam following the tsunami disaster. As Collector of Nagapattinam Dr. Radhakrishnan handled the rescue and relief operations in Cuddalore. They will also hold a press conference after their visit to the tsunami affected areas. |
