Peterite Peiris gets into top spot again in OBSERVER-BATA All-Island Contest Peterite cricketer Lahiru Peiris - last year's winner of the OBSERVER-BATA Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year. All Island, had jumped into the lead once again in this year's competition after votes were counted on coupon No. 5. Peiris was placed fourth on coupon number 4 with a haul of 2,460 votes but had tremendous support on coupon number 5 collecting 2,703 votes to have a overall tally of 5,163 votes. Sachith Pathirana of Trinity who led last week with 2,889 votes drops down to second spot with 4,029 votes. There are no changes in positions for third, fourth and fifth positions with Dulanjaya Wijeratne (Royal), Pramodth Fernando (St. Anthony's Katugastota) and Kaushal Silva (S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia) keeping their places in that order. However, there was a change for sixth position with Hashan Gunatilleke (St. Joseph's) 1,119 votes displacing Danushka Colombage of S. Thomas' Mount Lavinia receiving 1,106 votes. There was also a change in the eighth and ninth position with Nilushan Nonis of De Mazenod, Kandana creeping into eighth position with 659 votes and Dilshan Cooray of St. Sebastian's College, Kandana dropping down to ninth slot with 621 votes. Mahela Udawatte of Ananda who was in tenth position is still in tenth position with 528 votes. In the outstation contest, Andy Solomons of STC Kotte is in front again with 2,170 votes with Mohamed Shakir of Azhar College, Akurana second with 1,302 votes and E. V. Gangoda third with 1,257 votes. |
